Korea cement industry and KCL partner to advance low-carbon cement technology and quality standards

South Korea's cement industry has signed a partnership with Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL) to develop low-carbon cement technology and improve quality competitiveness. The agreement focuses on joint R&D projects for resource circulation and carbon neutrality, as well as new testing and evaluation methods for cement and concrete. The Korea Cement Association will help member companies participate in demonstration studies and standardization efforts. The collaboration also includes plans to digitize production processes using AI for quality control. A key goal is to verify the reliability of new low-carbon technologies and push demonstration results toward formal testing standards. This move reflects the cement sector's push to cut emissions while maintaining product quality, a challenge for hard-to-abate industries.
