Knauf Insulation has released a free online embodied carbon calculator for insulation products, claiming it as a UK first. The tool lets specifiers calculate both the U value needed to reduce operational carbon and the embodied carbon of the chosen insulation in one place. Results are shown by weight, area, and total project size, with direct links to the underlying EPDs based on the EN15804+A2 standard. The company says the calculator is designed to help meet client requirements, local authority expectations, and emerging standards like the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard. It aims to simplify what is often a manual and time consuming part of sustainability reporting. The tool is available now on the Knauf Insulation website.
