Researchers at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology have created an analysis platform using Accelerator Mass Spectrometry to track fine dust at the nanogram level. The study reveals that inhaled particles do not stay in the lungs but migrate to the liver, kidneys, and brain. This quantitative approach provides a scientific basis for updating environmental standards and public health policies. The platform can also be adapted to measure other environmental hazards, such as microplastics, in living organisms.
