Kilshane Energy has applied for planning permission to build a 680MW flexible peaking power plant in north Dublin. This project, known as Phase Two, consists of two gas turbine stations designed to provide backup generation during periods of high demand or low renewable output. The facility aims to improve grid security and support Ireland's Climate Action Plan 2025 target of 2GW of new flexible gas capacity by 2030. By displacing older, higher emitting oil-fired units, the plant is expected to reduce overall carbon emissions while facilitating a higher share of renewables on the grid.
