KIIT University's School of Management organized a guest lecture by Sanjay Patnaik, Director of the Centre on Regulations and Markets at Brookings, USA, on climate change and environment. The session focused on carbon pricing mechanisms including carbon taxes, cap-and-trade systems, and hybrid approaches, emphasizing how firms can gain a competitive edge by adopting internal carbon pricing before regulations mandate it. Nearly 300 students, research scholars, and faculty attended, reflecting strong institutional interest in the intersection of environmental sustainability, market regulation, and business strategy. The lecture covered frameworks like the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and discussed how government regulations shape firm behavior and performance. Patnaik stressed that greenhouse gas emissions are no longer cost-free, urging organizations to measure and manage their carbon footprint. The event supports KIIT's commitment to fostering industry-academia collaboration and interdisciplinary research on climate policy and public policy issues.
