Khazna Publishes First ESG Report With 2035 Goal for 100% Carbon-Free Cooling
datacentremagazine.comKhazna Data Centers has published its first standalone ESG report, setting a target to run all mechanical cooling on carbon-free electricity by 2035. In 2025 the UAE firm covered 27.9% of cooling load with carbon-free power, with an intermediate goal of 50% by 2030. The report also shows 19.8% of cooling water came from recycled sources and a 99.55% waste diversion rate at one facility. The target matters because data centre cooling is a major electricity and water load in the Gulf. New facilities are designed for a PUE of 1.5 or below, and Khazna says its greenhouse gas inventory follows the GHG Protocol. The company is also working with NVIDIA, Siemens, and Eni on AI infrastructure, including a 500MW campus in Italy that would use Eni's low-carbon gas power with carbon capture. The report is a baseline rather than a finished result. The main open question is how Khazna will source enough carbon-free electricity to move from 27.9% to 50% by 2030, and whether the Eni gas plant can meet that standard. For anyone tracking data centre decarbonization, the numbers give a concrete reference point.
