Khazna Data Centers published its first standalone ESG report, covering 2025. The company says 27% of electricity used for mechanical cooling came from carbon-free sources, through a mix of onsite solar and certified clean energy instruments. It plans to reach 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2035. The report also covers water use, waste, safety, and greenhouse gas accounting. New facilities in the GCC are designed for PUE values of 1.5 or below, and 19.8% of cooling water needs were met with recycled water. One site achieved 99.55% waste diversion from landfill. A key detail: the carbon-free target applies to cooling load, not total data center electricity. That is still a meaningful slice, but the use of certified clean energy instruments means the real emissions impact depends on whether those instruments represent new renewable capacity or just existing generation.
