Khazna Data Centers published its first standalone ESG report, setting a 2025 baseline of 27% carbon-free electricity for mechanical cooling load and an ambition to reach 100% by 2035. The company also targets 50% by 2030. The numbers cover only the electricity used for cooling systems, which is a significant portion of data center energy use and one of the areas Khazna controls directly. The report includes a formalized GHG inventory aligned with the GHG Protocol, GRI-referenced disclosure, and operational details like PUE targets of 1.5 or below in GCC facilities, 19.8% recycled water for cooling, and a zero waste certification at one site. Clean energy procurement, onsite solar, and certified instruments are the main levers behind the carbon-free cooling goal. For anyone tracking data center decarbonization or clean energy procurement in the Gulf, this is a useful baseline. The main open question is how much of the carbon-free target will come from physical PPAs versus purchased certificates, and how absolute emissions move over time.
