India is rapidly expanding its renewable energy footprint with the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat. Expected to be the largest solar project globally by 2029, the site will span 280 square miles and generate 30 gigawatts of power, enough to supply the entire country of Austria. With solar capacity crossing 150 gigawatts in early 2026, India is shifting its industrial growth strategy away from coal. The International Energy Agency projects that solar will meet roughly 50 percent of India's additional electricity demand through 2030.
