KFCC renovates 13 senior centers in South Korea with green upgrades for energy efficiency and carbon neutrality
biz.chosun.comThe Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives (KFCC) has donated 200 million won to the Environmental Foundation to launch the 'MG neighborhood eco-friendly senior center program.' The initiative will renovate 13 aging senior centers nationwide, focusing on energy efficiency improvements such as high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, insulated windows and doors, and solar power installations. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions while improving living conditions for older adults. KFCC will select the centers based on recommendations from regional headquarters and branches, followed by on-site inspections. Each facility will receive tailored green remodeling, including upgrades to rest areas and convenience features for safety and comfort. KFCC president Kim In stated the program aims to support communities through mutually beneficial finance and social contributions. This project highlights a practical link between building retrofits and carbon neutrality in South Korea. By targeting aging infrastructure with specific energy-saving measures, it demonstrates how community-focused finance can drive real decarbonization in the built environment.
