Two solar projects are moving forward in Keremeos, British Columbia. A 40 kW solar installation at the village's wastewater treatment plant is now operational, funded entirely by a grant. The system is expected to generate up to 52,000 kWh of electricity per year and reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 0.3 to 0.4 tonnes annually, while cutting operating costs at the facility. Separately, the village council approved a 30 kW solar array for the municipal offices. That project will install 48 panels and is projected to save over $130,000 in electricity costs over 25 years. Both projects received funding through the Local Government Climate Action program, a provincial initiative that supports clean energy investments by local governments in British Columbia.
