Kerala startup Carbon & Whale turns beach plastic waste into furniture, reports Rs 2 crore in FY26
startuppedia.inCarbon & Whale, a Kochi-based startup founded in 2022, turns plastic waste collected from beaches into outdoor furniture like benches, tables, kiosks, and shelters. The founders, Siddharth AK, Prof. Suraj Varma, and Alvin George, built the business after early attempts with tiles and wood-plastic blends failed. Their current material uses a proprietary mix of plastic, additives, and fillers that is rigid enough for furniture and processed through extrusion. The company says it made Rs 2 crore in FY26. India generates about 9.3 million tonnes of plastic waste a year, and Kerala's coastline gets a steady stream of litter from rivers, tourists, and weak waste collection. By giving that waste a price tag, Carbon & Whale is trying to make circular economy economics work at a small scale.
