Keppel Launches Singapore's First Hydrogen-Compatible Power Plant
fuelcellsworks.comKeppel has started commercial operations at the Sakra Cogen plant in Singapore. The 600MW facility uses combined cycle gas turbine technology and can co-fire up to 30% hydrogen with natural gas, providing a pathway to lower emissions as hydrogen supply chains develop. The plant increases Keppel's total power capacity by 45% and is designed to meet the rising electricity demands of AI and semiconductor infrastructure. It is expected to reduce annual carbon emissions by 220,000 tons compared to the regional average for similar generation.
