Kenya is aiming to attract over 25 billion shillings in new investments through the Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC), with a focus on climate finance, carbon credits, bio-energy, and AI-powered financial services. The NIFC has certified 15 companies so far, including firms working on carbon credit projects, digital payments, and tokenized securities. The goal is to create more than 1,000 jobs and strengthen Kenya's position as a regional financial hub. The certified companies include Giraffe Bioenergy Limited, which works on bio-energy and environmental conservation, and others involved in carbon finance and digital asset infrastructure. The NIFC has also signed cooperation agreements with other global financial centers and will host the Secretariat of the Alliance of African Multilateral Financial Institutions. This move aims to link African capital markets with global opportunities, with a focus on climate finance and sustainable investment.
