KenGen's Green Energy Park in Olkaria, Nakuru County, has been designated a customs controlled area by the Kenya Revenue Authority. This activates tax incentives under the Special Economic Zones Act, including exemptions from stamp duty, advertisement fees, and liquor licensing for licensed enterprises. The park is powered by geothermal energy and aims to attract industries like data centers, green fertilizer production, and electric mobility. The customs status streamlines import and export processes, reduces duty on qualifying inputs, and speeds up cargo clearance. Five investors are already onboarded. KenGen says the park positions itself as Africa's leading geothermal industrial hub, supporting Kenya's green energy transition as global demand for low-carbon production grows.
