Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has received court approval to proceed with the sale of 6.38 million carbon credits. The auction, valued at approximately 2.5 billion shillings, follows the dismissal of a legal challenge from a losing bidder regarding the procurement process. These credits, primarily Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), were generated from KenGen's geothermal, wind, and hydro power projects. The company plans to use the proceeds to fund further expansion of Kenya's renewable energy infrastructure.
