Finnish chemical company Kemira is investing 40 million euro to build two new facilities in La Canonja, Spain. The project includes the first activated carbon reactivation plant in the Iberian Peninsula, allowing carbon filters to be reused up to seven times, and a new aluminum chlorohydrate production plant to improve water treatment efficiency. These investments, supported by ACCIÓ, aim to reduce CO2 emissions from logistics and minimize waste in municipal water treatment. The new facilities are expected to be operational between 2028 and 2029, addressing the growing demand for contaminant removal in drinking water.
