KBR wins FEED contract for Live Oak e-NG project in Nebraska, targeting 2030 operations
hydrogen-central.comKBR has been selected by the Live Oak consortium to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for a proposed large-scale electric natural gas (e-NG) facility in Norfolk, Nebraska. The project will use around 250 MW of electrolysis to produce renewable hydrogen, combine it with biogenic CO2 to make synthetic methane, and export the e-NG to Japan. Final investment decision is expected in 2027, with commercial operations targeted for 2030. The e-NG is chemically identical to conventional natural gas, so it can use existing LNG infrastructure without changes to consumer equipment. The consortium includes TotalEnergies, Osaka Gas, Toho Gas, ITOCHU, and Tree Energy Solutions. This award highlights KBR's role in hydrogen and low-carbon energy projects, and it is one of the largest e-methane developments in North America.
