JSW Steel has partnered with Bharatia and Carbon Iceland International to build a 300 KTPA green methanol facility in Maharashtra. The project will use captured carbon dioxide from steel operations and green hydrogen produced from renewable energy to create sustainable eMethanol. This initiative supports JSW Steel's goal to reduce CO2 emissions by 42% by 2030. By integrating carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology, the project aims to provide low carbon fuel options for heavy industry and shipping.
