Jordan's Prime Minister Jafar Hassan inaugurated two natural gas stations in Aqaba and laid the foundation for a new onshore gasification unit. The projects aim to reduce industrial energy costs by 35 to 60 percent, strengthen energy security, and boost the competitiveness of the national economy. The Quweira station cost JD8 million with an initial capacity of 30,000 cubic meters per day, expandable to 90,000. The Southern Industrial Zone station cost JD3.5 million and was completed ahead of schedule. The onshore gasification unit, part of the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah LNG Terminal Development Project, is estimated at JD90 million and will have a capacity of up to 700 million cubic feet per day. It will replace floating storage units, provide access to multiple LNG suppliers, and reduce operating costs for the National Electric Power Company. The projects support Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision by creating jobs, attracting investment, and promoting environmental sustainability through cleaner energy for factories.
