Jordan Announces $1 Billion Green Ammonia Project in Aqaba

Jordan has signed a $1 billion agreement to build its first utility-scale green ammonia facility. The project will use 550 megawatts of solar power and energy storage to produce 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 200,000 tonnes per year. Located in Aqaba to utilize its export infrastructure, the facility is being developed by a Polish and Emirati consortium. Financial close is expected by September 2027, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in November 2030.
