Guangdong Liquid Sunshine is partnering with Johnson Matthey to build a commercial biomethanol plant in Guangxi Province, China. The first phase aims for an annual production capacity of 75,000 tonnes, using gasified biomass waste to create low carbon fuel for the shipping industry. A planned second phase would integrate electrolytic hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide to produce e-methanol. This expansion would allow the site to increase output without requiring additional biomass feedstock, helping the region meet green fuel mandates.
