Jinko ESS Haining factory earns three star zero carbon rating from TÜV Rheinland
greenbuildingafrica.co.zaJinko ESS, the energy storage arm of Jinko Solar, has secured a Type I Three Star zero carbon factory rating for its Haining facility in Zhejiang, China. The certification came from TÜV Rheinland and was assessed under the T/CECA G 0171 2025 standard. During the reporting period, the factory reached 100% renewable electricity consumption, driven by a 12 MW rooftop solar array, green power trading, and green certificate purchases. The factory reported Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions of 26,133.63 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2025, with 13,068 tonnes offset, about 50% of the total. It also cut resource use through packaging reuse, saving 7,488 cartons and 2,496 wooden pallets. Energy efficiency measures included waste heat recovery and efficient lighting, reducing steam and cooling electricity demand. The company is also pushing key suppliers to adopt stronger carbon accounting and green manufacturing practices. This rating shows how battery manufacturers are moving beyond basic compliance and embedding carbon management into operations. It also highlights the role of market instruments like green certificates in meeting zero carbon targets, which is worth tracking as more factories pursue similar certifications.
