Jindal Ferrous commissions 2.2 mtpa carbon steel plant in Odisha with ₹5,000 crore investment
business-standard.comJindal Ferrous has commissioned its first integrated carbon steel plant at Jajpur, Odisha, backed by an investment of around ₹5,000 crore. The 2.2 million tonne per annum melt shop includes a sinter plant, basic oxygen furnace, and a blast furnace with advanced automation and gas cleaning systems. The company says the integrated setup recycles metallurgical waste through the sinter plant and reuses process gases to improve efficiency and cut waste. Odisha is already a major base for the Jindal group, with Jindal Stainless operating in the same area. The new carbon steel facility adds significant capacity to serve northern and eastern India. JFL has partnered with Japan's JFE Steel for technical support and brought in European suppliers for core equipment. The project strengthens the group's industrial footprint in the state and adds modern steelmaking capacity in one of India's fastest-growing steel markets.
