JERA launches JERA GES in Singapore for LNG, lower-carbon fuels, and shipping portfolio management
manifoldtimes.comJapanese power generator JERA has set up a new wholly owned subsidiary called JERA Global Energy Solutions (JERA GES) in Singapore. The unit will handle the company's long-term LNG procurement, upstream investments, lower-carbon fuels like ammonia and hydrogen, and its shipping portfolio. The move creates a vertically integrated LNG company that can respond to volatile energy markets while keeping supply security for Japan as the top priority. JERA GES will work alongside JERA Global Markets (JERAGM), which handles trading and optimization. The two units split the LNG portfolio by time horizon: JERA GES manages long-term strategy and development, while JERAGM handles short-term trading and market responsiveness. Irtiza H. Sayyed has been appointed CEO of the new Singapore-based unit. The structure is meant to combine long-term supply resilience with short-term market agility.
