Jayplas plastics reprocessing expansion in Wales creates 100 jobs and cuts carbon by 150,000 tonnes annually

A plastics reprocessing firm, Jayplas, is expanding in South Wales with two new sites in Gorseinon and Tredegar, creating 100 jobs by March 2028. The Welsh Government supported the project, which will more than double Wales' capacity to reprocess recycled flexible and rigid plastics to at least 100,000 tonnes per year. Officials estimate this will cut Wales' carbon footprint by around 150,000 tonnes annually, equivalent to removing 120,000 cars from the road. The expansion aligns with Wales' net zero by 2050 goals and its push for a circular economy. The sites will use state of the art technology to produce high quality recycled materials. Local council representatives welcomed the investment as a boost for sustainable employment and economic resilience in former industrial areas. The project shows how targeted government support can scale recycling infrastructure and deliver measurable emissions reductions.
