Jayplas plastics recycling expansion in South Wales creates 100 jobs, cuts carbon footprint by 150,000 tonnes per year

Plastics recycling firm Jayplas is opening two new reprocessing sites in South Wales, one in Gorseinon and one in Tredegar, creating 100 jobs by March 2028. The company received Welsh Government support to expand its operations and will more than double Wales' reprocessing capacity for recycled plastics. Both sites will process at least 100,000 tonnes of flexible and rigid plastics each year, feeding material back into the economy and reducing waste. The expansion is expected to cut Wales' carbon footprint by around 150,000 tonnes annually, which the company says is equivalent to taking 120,000 cars off the road. Welsh Government ministers highlighted the role of the project in building a net zero economy and keeping valuable materials out of landfills. Jayplas will use modern sorting and processing technology at both sites to produce high quality recycled plastic pellets for manufacturing.
