A delegation from the Japan Finance Organization for Municipalities visited Hull to learn about the Hull Heat Network, a district heating project that will supply low-carbon heating and hot water to city centre buildings. The network is one of Hull City Council's largest infrastructure projects and is being designed, built, and operated by Vital Energi. The visit was arranged with support from the National Wealth Fund and included a tour of the Energy Centre under construction on Trippett Street. Delegates discussed the project's background, milestones, and plans for expansion across the city. The network is expected to support Hull's net zero target, improve air quality, and cut running costs for public buildings.
