Japan and Vietnam have signed agreements to strengthen cooperation on energy and critical minerals. A key focus is reducing reliance on China for rare earth elements, leveraging Vietnam's large reserves and Japan's technical capacity for refining. The partnership includes the POWERR Asia Initiative, a 10 billion dollar fund designed to stabilize energy supplies across Asia. The two nations also aim to increase bilateral trade to 60 billion dollars by 2030 through improved economic security and infrastructure projects.
