Dutch company Jalo is raising €20 million to build a bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) plant in Almelo. The facility aims to produce 125,000 tonnes of sustainable pellets annually while capturing 56,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 for industrial use and permanent storage. This project serves as a blueprint for negative-emissions energy infrastructure across Europe. By integrating local biomass feedstocks with permanent carbon removal, Jalo intends to create a replicable model for low-carbon energy production that reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
