JA, formerly JA Solar, outlined its ESG strategy at Intersolar Europe, focusing on low-carbon modules, supply chain traceability, and end-of-life recycling. The company says it can produce modules with a 58% lower carbon footprint than mainstream Chinese-made panels by using fluidised bed reactor polysilicon, recycled silicon, and recycled aluminium and glass. It also operates an integrated traceability system to track raw materials from mine to finished module. On the waste side, JA is joining Producer Responsibility Organisations across Europe to manage WEEE compliance for retired panels. The company is also working on upstream circularity, using recycled content in polysilicon, aluminium, and glass.
