Italy selects Tanzania for carbon trading investment under Paris Agreement Article 6.2

The decision was announced during UN climate talks in Bonn, Germany. Italian officials cited Tanzania's existing carbon trading policies and investment climate as key factors. The partnership will focus on projects aligned with Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, which allows countries to trade carbon credits to meet climate goals. Tanzania aims to generate $2 billion from carbon trading and Blue Economy activities under its Development Vision 2050. Priority sectors include energy, waste management, transport, agriculture, and the Blue Economy. Sustainable Energy for All will provide technical support and has commissioned a feasibility study to guide pilot projects. The two countries plan to formalize the partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding.
