Italy has selected Tanzania as a priority country for carbon trading investment, citing the country's established carbon market policies and favorable investment climate. The decision was announced during the 64th UNFCCC sessions in Bonn, where Italian officials expressed interest in funding projects under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. Tanzania aims to generate $2 billion from carbon trading and Blue Economy activities under its Development Vision 2050. Pilot projects will be developed with support from Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), which has already commissioned a feasibility study. Priority sectors for investment include energy, waste management, transport, industry, agriculture, and the Blue Economy. Tanzania's government has called for a swift Memorandum of Understanding to formalize the partnership and accelerate implementation.
