Isometric Certifies Soil Carbon Removal Protocol Aiming for 430 Million Tonnes CO2 per Year
igrownews.comIsometric has certified its Improved Soil Management Protocol, a new standard for measuring and verifying carbon removal from soil. Soil holds nearly 3 trillion tonnes of carbon, roughly three times the amount in the atmosphere. Better management of croplands and grasslands could remove up to 430 million tonnes of CO2 annually, more than the UK's total yearly emissions. The protocol requires direct soil sampling combined with validated modeling, full greenhouse gas accounting, and a minimum 20% revenue share for landowners. Three project developers have already registered: Great Yellow in the UK, Cultivo in US grasslands, and HGX working with over 1,000 US farmers. Isometric's Certify platform uses AI agents to speed up verification and certification processes.
