Isometric has issued its first nature-based carbon removal certification, approving 21,771 reforestation credits from Mombak's Reforesting the Brazilian Amazon Project 1. The credits are the first reforestation issuance for Mombak and the first native-species reforestation credits certified using dynamic baselines. The project covers 12 farms where nearly 15 million trees from over 100 native species have been planted, including 16 endangered species. Mombak says the operations have created nearly 600 direct jobs in vulnerable Amazonian regions. The credits were certified under Isometric's Reforestation Protocol, which received the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label from the ICVCM in February 2026. Isometric CEO Eamon Jubbawy emphasized that these credits use dynamic baselines, albedo accounting, and native species, calling them the most scientifically rigorous reforestation credits ever issued. Mombak has secured over $170 million in contracted revenue from buyers including Google, McKinsey, and Microsoft.

Dynamic baselines are the key detail here. Most legacy forestry credits used static baselines that overstated additionality. If Isometric actually enforces dynamic baselines, this could set a new bar for the whole sector.

21k credits from 12 farms and 15 million trees. That is a lot of trees per credit. Anyone know the per hectare sequestration rate they are using? Would be good to see the registry data.

The dynamic baseline piece is what matters for policy. Static baselines let projects claim credit for trees that would have grown anyway. If Isometric actually enforces dynamic baselines, that changes the additionality math significantly. ICVCM approving the protocol in Feb gives it some weight.

Mombak has $170m in contracted revenue from Google, McKinsey, Microsoft. That is real demand. But 21k credits is still small. Scaling reforestation at this rigor level will be the real test.
