IS Dongbu upcycles banners into umbrellas, cuts 38.75 kg of carbon in community donation

IS Dongbu, a South Korean housing company, recycled discarded sales promotion banners into eco-friendly umbrellas and donated them to a local social welfare center. The initiative, timed for World Environment Day, aims to reduce air pollutants from incineration of the banners and support groups vulnerable to summer climate disasters like heavy rainfall and heat waves. The company estimates a carbon reduction of 38.75 kg, equivalent to the emissions from a mid-size car traveling roughly 240 km. An IS Dongbu official said the campaign creates environmental value through natural circulation, with the result benefiting the local community. The company plans to continue resource circulation activities.
