Invenergy Drops $765M Offshore Wind for Natural Gas and Geothermal Under Trump Energy Agenda

Invenergy has agreed to terminate four offshore wind lease projects worth about $765 million and redirect that investment into natural gas and geothermal energy. The settlement with the U.S. Department of the Interior aligns with President Trump's Energy Dominance Agenda, which prioritizes reliable domestic energy supplies over government-supported renewables. The company will reinvest the funds into natural gas plants across Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri, plus geothermal projects in the western U.S. U.S. electricity demand is projected to rise 20% to 40% over the next decade, driven by AI, cloud computing, and manufacturing.
