Jharkhand-based startup Intrinsic Foundries is developing a biomanufacturing system that uses microalgae to capture industrial carbon emissions. Instead of storing carbon underground, the company converts flue gas into high-value proteins and fatty acids for the supplement and skincare markets. The company recently raised 12 crore rupees to move from proof of concept to a commercial one-tonne-per-day plant. This approach aims to make carbon capture profitable for hard-to-abate sectors like steel and cement by turning waste emissions into sellable raw materials.
