Instagrid portable batteries cut 1 million tonnes of CO2 by replacing diesel generators in construction and events

Instagrid says its customers have avoided 1 million tonnes of CO2e by switching from diesel generators to portable battery packs. The company has sold nearly 60,000 units over five years, mostly to the rental market for construction, events, TV and film production. The avoided emissions are calculated over the lifetime of the equipment and are independently tested by TUV NORD, which found the batteries produce up to 94% fewer greenhouse gases than comparable combustion generators. The company also reports 401 tonnes of NOx avoided and 310,000 tonnes of local CO emissions eliminated at the point of use. Instagrid has set a new target to cut 23 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030, aligned with SBTi. The shift from diesel generators to portable batteries is a practical example of how off-grid power can decarbonize without waiting for grid upgrades.
