InSoil secures €120m Pollen Street facility for regenerative agriculture lending and soil carbon credits
fintech.globalInSoil, a European climate finance firm, has secured a €120 million senior secured credit facility from Pollen Street Capital to expand lending to agricultural SMEs transitioning to regenerative practices. The deal is backed by a European Investment Fund guarantee under the InvestEU programme and targets a financing gap that mainstream banks have left open for years. InSoil has already supported over 3,500 farms and built a proprietary soil carbon dataset from more than 15,000 samples, which it uses to underwrite loans and issue carbon credits under the Verified Carbon Standard. The facility is one of the largest private credit deals for sustainable agriculture in Europe. InSoil plans to use the capital to extend mid-term debt to farmers adopting no-till cultivation, cover cropping, and reduced synthetic fertiliser use. The company also aims to remove one gigaton of CO2 through agricultural finance over the long term. The deal signals that regenerative agriculture is becoming a credible asset class for institutional investors, especially when backed by guarantees like the EIF's InvestEU programme.
