InSoil Secures 120 Million Euro Credit Facility for Sustainable Agriculture Lending in Europe
pulse2.comInSoil, a European climate finance company, has secured a 120 million euro credit facility from Pollen Street Capital to expand lending to small and medium sized agricultural businesses adopting sustainable farming practices. The facility is backed by a guarantee from the European Investment Fund under the InvestEU program, which aims to mobilize at least 372 billion euros in additional investment for EU policy priorities. InSoil has already financed over 3,500 agricultural SMEs and built a proprietary soil carbon dataset from more than 15,000 samples across participating farms. The company uses this soil carbon data to improve credit underwriting and measure climate outcomes, including issuing soil carbon credits under the Verified Carbon Standard. The European Investment Bank estimates an annual SME financing gap of 62 billion euros in the sector. This facility targets that gap with mid term debt capital for practices like no-till cultivation, cover cropping, and reduced synthetic fertilizer use. The deal shows how private credit with government backed guarantees can channel institutional capital into regenerative agriculture at scale.
