Infinity Power has signed engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements for two large solar projects in South Africa. The Highveld Solar plant in Mpumalanga will have 285.6 MWp capacity, and the Negwedi solar cluster in Free State will add 488 MWp. Combined, they are expected to power over 450,000 homes and avoid around 1.8 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. India's Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy will build the Highveld plant, while PowerChina Guizhou Engineering will handle the Negwedi cluster. These projects mark a significant step for private sector investment in Africa's renewable energy transition. South Africa's ongoing power shortages and load-shedding have pushed large industrial buyers toward long-term clean energy deals. Infinity Power, jointly owned by Infinity and Masdar, aims to reach 10 GW of operational renewable capacity across Africa by 2032. The projects are also expected to create jobs and support local supply chains during construction and operation.
