The company is working toward full CO2 neutrality by 2030, reporting an 80 percent reduction in emissions compared to its 2019 baseline. To address supply chain impact, Infineon is collaborating with over 100 partners through a Supplier Engagement Program and implementing a Product Carbon Footprint initiative to provide better transparency for customers.

The 80 percent reduction in scope 1 and 2 is a big jump, but the real fight is in scope 3. I wonder what the actual percentage of supply chain emissions they have managed to cut so far, rather than just the target.
SBTi validation helps, but the mention of using offsetting certificates for unavoidable emissions is the key detail. The quality of those certificates determines if this is actual decarbonization or just accounting.
Good to see the Product Carbon Footprint initiative. If they can actually give precise carbon data per chip, it makes it much easier for industrial engineers to calculate the real impact of a hardware retrofit.
Infineon keeps hitting the Dow Jones sustainability lists, but the SBTi validation for scope 3 is the more practical win here. Moving the needle on supplier emissions is where the actual work happens.
