INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has launched INEOS LowINCO₂, a product range for low-carbon olefins and polymers. The company says the materials carry a product carbon footprint up to half the European industry average, and that the footprint should fall further once its Project ONE ethane cracker in Antwerp comes online. The range is aimed at manufacturers that need to reduce Scope 3 emissions while keeping the same material performance. Target applications include water and gas pipes, medical devices, food packaging, electronics, and lightweight transport components. INEOS is also positioning the range as a response to tightening environmental rules in Europe. The claims depend on how INEOS calculates and verifies product carbon footprints. The company has not yet published detailed methodology or independent certification in the announcement, so buyers will need to check the underlying numbers before treating LowINCO₂ as a verified low-carbon material.
