Ineos and Sandpiper Chemicals to Build $1.7 Billion Low-Carbon Methanol Plant in Texas

The $1.7 billion project aims to produce 1.1 million metric tons of methanol annually using natural gas combined with carbon capture technology to lower emissions. The plant targets a 97% carbon capture rate for process CO2 emissions. Ineos will serve as both a shareholder and a primary customer, using a portion of the output for acetic acid production. First production is expected by 2030.
