Ineos is partnering with Sandpiper Chemicals to construct a blue methanol facility in Texas City, Texas. The project aims to produce 1.1 million tonnes of methanol annually, with Ineos serving as both a shareholder and the primary anchor customer for its acetic acid production. The facility will utilize carbon capture technology from Topsoe to remove 97% of emissions from the natural gas based production process. A final investment decision is expected next year, with operations slated to begin in 2030.
