Ineos Acetyls and Sandpiper Chemicals are collaborating to build a low-carbon methanol facility in Texas City, Texas. The project aims to produce 1.1 million metric tons of methanol annually using natural gas combined with carbon capture technology to lower the carbon intensity of the feedstock. The facility will target a 97% carbon capture rate for process emissions. With a projected investment of 1.7 billion USD, the project expects to reach a final investment decision in 2027 and begin production by 2030.
