INEOS and Recuro have signed an MoU to build an advanced plastic recycling facility at the INEOS Bamble polymer complex in Norway. The plant will use pyrolysis to convert up to 33,000 metric tonnes of hard to recycle plastic waste into feedstock for recycled ethylene and polyethylene. It will run on 100 percent renewable electricity and reuse both oil and gas fractions from the process instead of burning them. The project aims to supply virgin quality recycled polyethylene for food and medical packaging while helping meet EU packaging waste targets. The Full Circle project repurposes existing infrastructure at the Bamble site to cut costs and speed up construction. Recuro brings the pyrolysis technology and backing from Innovation Norway. INEOS will feed the recycled output into its Rafnes cracker to produce recycled ethylene and then polyethylene at Bamble. The partners say the integrated model keeps carbon in the production cycle instead of releasing it through incineration. The facility is expected to process 33,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year once operational.
