Up to 150C is a good start, but a lot of heavy industry needs way more than that to actually ditch gas. These are great for district heating or low temp processes, but the real challenge is the high grade heat.

True, but the bigger worry is the grid connection. Adding a massive heat pump at a site like BASF puts a huge new load on the local substation. I wonder if they have the transmission capacity to support this without adding new peaker plants.

The tech is solid, but the adoption rate depends on the price of carbon. If EU ETS prices stay high, the payback period for these installations drops. Without a strong carbon price, the CAPEX for these pumps is still a tough sell for most CFOs.
