Indonesia plans to issue over 30 million forestry carbon credits on July 6, 2026, marking one of the largest single issuances in the country's forestry sector. The credits are part of a broader push to build a credible carbon trading system and attract climate finance. A new Carbon Unit Registry System (SRUK) will launch on July 9 to improve transparency and traceability for carbon transactions. The government has passed several regulations to support the market, including Presidential Regulation No. 110/2025 and Forestry Ministerial Regulations No. 6/2026 and No. 7/2026. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni told the London Climate Action Week that the main challenge is creating conditions for safe, large-scale investment. Indonesia is also pushing for stronger international cooperation on market infrastructure and risk-sharing ahead of COP31.
